Holly and Oak King
In Medieval times, King Oak ruled the summer, while King Holly ruled the winter. At the solstices, each would take up arms against the other, for giving over their crown was not an easy thing. Should Holly win the winter battle, winter would be fierce and hard.
However, should Oak keep the seasonal crown, the winter would be mild and easy. With this in mind, all comers to our feast will be given a token, with which to cast a vote towards either King Holly or King Oak, and thus determine the coming season’s storms. More tokens may be won by entering the various contests and games.
